TRAINING PROGRAM
At EZ Security Solutions, we believe that the foundation of great security is great training. Our Security Guard Training Program is designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in the security industry. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to enhance your skills, our comprehensive training program will ensure you’re prepared to handle any situation with confidence and professionalism.
Our training is aligned with the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services mandatory requirements for security guards. All security personnel in Ontario must complete this government-approved training to work legally within the province.
Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services: Mandatory Training
In Ontario, the Security Guard Licensing Act requires that all security guards complete a government-approved training program and pass an exam to become licensed. The program consists of 40 hours of training covering a range of security-related topics that are crucial to ensuring both the safety of the security personnel and those they protect.
Requirements
Mandatory Training Requirements
1. Basic Security Procedures (8 hours)
- Introduction to the security industry
- Duties and responsibilities of a security guard
- Security report writing and maintaining proper records
2. Emergency Procedures (6 hours)
- How to respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other crises
- Evacuation procedures and alarm systems
3. Use of Force and Legal Authorities (6 hours)
- Understanding the legal aspects of security work
- Principles of reasonable force and when to use it
- Rights and responsibilities as a security guard
4. Communication and Public Relations (4 hours)
- Effective communication skills for dealing with the public and colleagues
- Customer service basics and conflict resolution
5. Health and Safety Procedures (4 hours)
- Identifying workplace hazards and preventing injuries
- Proper safety protocols for handling hazardous materials
6. Criminal Code, Law, and Ethics (4 hours)
- Introduction to Canadian law relevant to security guards
- Ethical conduct and professional behavior
7. Conflict Management and De-escalation (4 hours)
- Handling difficult situations and preventing escalation
- Techniques for de-escalating potential confrontations
8. Use of Security Equipment (4 hours)
- Training on the use of basic security equipment such as radios, CCTV systems, and alarm monitoring tools
9. Basic First Aid & CPR (4 hours)
- Basic first aid techniques and CPR certification (as required by law)
What You Will Receive After Completion:
Upon completing the Ontario Ministry’s mandatory training program and passing the exam, you will receive your Security Guard License from the Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. This license is required to work as a professional security guard in the province and is recognized across Ontario.
